In my hand is a fresh off the press copy of the summer challenge I’m leading at the three Whole Foods Market stores I work at (Tenleytown, Friendship Heights, and Bethesda)! I authored all the content and one of the lovely store artists I work with created the design and layout. I love seeing projects that I envisioned in my head actually come out on paper!
You can pick up a copy and join for free at any of the three stores mentioned above! That’s where you’ll find the booklets that explain everything.
For anyone curious, the challenge is called Gimme 5! It’s a two week challenge that starts on Tuesday, June 2 and runs Tuesday, through June 16. For the challenge, I’m asking participants to aim to accomplish FIVE goals:
- Drink 8 glasses of water
- Eat 5 servings of vegetables
- Consume no artificial sweeteners or anything with added sugar
- Eat a strong breakfast (well rounded combo of carbs, protein, and healthy fat)
- Engage in (at least) 30 minutes of activity
I wanted to pick goals that were super doable and that would hopefully end up being lifestyle changes. They’re things that are meant to stick with you even after the challenge is done. There is also a fun little summer survey on the back:Throughout the challenge I’m hosting a couple of cooking classes, organizing some store tastings, doing recipe demos, and offering TWO FREE fitness related events. One is a fun run/walk next Saturday on the capital crescent trail followed by a light breakfast at the Bethesda store. The other is a yoga class with Denise Cavanaugh (one of the best yoga instructors in the city) next Sunday at the Sport&Health location right behind the Tenleytown store followed by some snacks. If you live in the area and want to attend either one of these events, email me at wickedhealthywashingtonian at gmail dot com and I’ll sign you up for them!
I’m really excited to help other people out there work on building healthy lifestyle habits. It’s not about having a “beach body” or anything like that- it’s just about feeling your absolute best. You can also win prizes for participating- but I mean… that’s beside the point 😉
Keep it wicked healthy.
