While most people are amped about the Olympics- the Red Sox are more my thing. Especially when they’re playing the Yankees (which they were this past weekend) And we won the series- so suck on THAT NEW YORK (totally ignoring the 8.5 game gap between us- don’t remind me).
we’re going to win the world series. just wait.
Lucky for me, the Sox vs. Yankees game was featured on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. As I tried to relax, organize my life to prepare for another week of work, and watch the game, I decided I needed a treat. Also, I was feeling a little down as my best friend from home who had been visiting for the weekend had to return to MA earlier that morning.
SO. I was inspired by a recipe in Women’s Health and decided to top 1/2 cup of Oikos vanilla frozen yogurt with a sliced black plum, cinnamon, and 1/2 tbl. of honey. MMMMMMM- better than I thought it would be! Definitely made the night better. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to relinquish my sweet tooth. But this dessert also had tartness- which I love.
Before this creation took place- I had to buy the ingredients. Minus the cinnamon, the ingredients are ones I normally don’t have on hand. I’ve been putting off buying honey but had been feeling the pressure after reading a bunch of yummy looking recipes calling for it. This led to a new ingredient for my pantry alas- wahoo! I swapped out my usual Edy’s ice cream this week and bought the Oikos vanilla frozen yogurt. The plums I was more than willing to add to my grocery list.
It would probably be good with some almonds, walnuts, or even dark chocolate chips thrown in! You really can’t go wrong with a fruit + froyo combo.
Before continuing on to regularly scheduled/themed posts- I just have to show my appreciation and love for all the people who have been supporting the launch of my blog today.
As the title of this post says, I am overwhelmed in the best way possible. You have NO IDEA. You people have made me cry actual tears today and smile bigger than I have in a long time. Thank you doesn’t begin to cover it but it’s the best I got- THANK YOU.
I’ve barely even started and you’ve already justfied the existence of this blog. You keep telling me that I’m great- but holy crap- YOU GUYS are the best.
I guess I don’t have to worry about staying positive today seeing as I might just be the happiest/luckiest girl in the world.
After contemplating starting a healthy lifestyle blog for a LONG time- I’m finally committing. I was really scared to do this for some reason…
But alas, here it is! My name is Allison and to spare you the details of why I started this and the background as to who I am- I’ve provided some helpful pages above if you want to read up on my life. I promise it’s at least mildly interesting.
Basics about me besides my name? Since January I’ve been losing weight through healthy eating and exercising. I’m originally from Massachusetts and now live in Washington D.C. post graduating from American University in May. I’m doing my best to figure things out in this city as a twenty-something.
Me on my balcony (the best part of my apartment) eating one of my favorite foods, sweet potatoes!
Back to those lil pages above- they’re pretty self explanatory butttttt essentially:
About/Contact tells you how to reach me and more about my life Calorie Count is my advice on losing weight by counting calories Fitness details how I workout Groceries gives you what I keep in my kitchen Inspirations details some important motivators for me Meals shows you what I eat on a regular basis Weight Loss goes through my weight loss journey and relationship with food/exercise You’re Beautiful emphasizes that we need to love ourselves more
In terms of what I’ll post- I’ll do my absolute best to post a handful of times a week with new exercise things I’ve been doing, new meals or foods I’ve been trying, tips and tricks I learn or have learned, healthly lifestyle words of wisdom, online musings, and general things from my world that I think other people would take something away from if I shared!
