Yesterday, I flew up to Boston to interview for a job with Whole Foods Market and GOT IT. I decided to start searching for jobs closer to home two weeks ago and this job just so happened to open up the day after I started actively looking. It all happened sooner than I was expecting, but I had to go for it and I’m really glad I did! It’s a position similar to what I do now, but instead of teaching customers, I’ll be training fellow team members. It’s a little bit more low key than my current job (which is what I want/need) and based out of one store. I really haven’t enjoyed traveling between multiple WFMs and am really pumped to be focused on only one location again. AND its at a beautiful, new store in my favorite city on Earth. It’s staffed with all-star team members and I’ve felt so comfortable talking to everyone I’ve met from there. To say I’m excited would be a huge understatement.Calling my friends and family- telling them I got the job- AHHH it was the best thing ever. The sense of relief and accomplishment I feel now is just unbelievable.
And I start at the beginning of August so I officially have ONE MONTH left in DC! Holy cow, man. Let bucket list begin…
So you might be wondering, what does that mean for Wicked Healthy Washingtonian? I am heading back to my Bostonian roots after all- the “Washingtonian” aspect of my name doesn’t ring true anymore.
Well, for the past couple of months, I’ve been working on a new blog- mainly in my head, but more recently, actually live online. This new blog will serve as a more permanent space for my musings and everything I want to share with the world. I literally just took the privacy settings off the blog and now anyone can look at it— eeeek!
You’re probably thinking, WHAT IS IT CALLED?!
Well, you can now find me at Not Your Basic Broad. I’m warning you now, it’s not health and wellness focused. It’s Allison focused. It’s more about me as a whole! This of course includes food stuff, recipes, and my thoughts on health and wellness- but it also includes restaurants, ALL food, music, sports, history, and travel.
It’s a blog that encompasses everything that makes me, me. Not just being healthy. Being healthy has truly become just another part of who I am.
I outgrew this blog a while ago and had been struggling to find a way to keep it going. I knew I wanted to create a new space that wasn’t as narrow in focus. I knew I wanted a blank slate- I knew I wanted a fresh start.
And I feel like now especially, with my move up to Boston, its just very timely for me to roll out my new blog and make the transition to writing and posting there.
SO. This marks the end of Wicked Healthy Washingtonian. GASP. Craziness, right? I’m ready to move on but still, this blog has been a huge part of my life for many years. I’m eternally grateful for all of the people this blog connected me with and all of the opportunities it opened up to me. This blog played a big role in me starting my current career and I’ll never forget that! For the many years where I was solely focused on eating healthier, learning about wellness, and exercising- this space was my life saver. It meant everything to me. The support and love that you all gave to me through this blog has been one of the most mind-blowing experiences.
I hope you guys follow my new blog and keep up with me there! I’m going to let Wicked Healthy Washingtonian exist in the interwebs for a while so everyone who wants to access my content and old posts can. But I officially will no longer be posting original content here.

In two weeks I turn 25 and I’m ridiculously eager to start the next quarter century of my life- especially with these two big changes underway. 25 is going to be great.

This quote is a tad bit overused and thrown around too frequently for my liking- but I don’t care- I’m using it. It will always be one of my favorite excerpts from my favorite books. I can still remember reading it for the first time and being blown away by how beautiful it sounded.
And I can’t really think of a more poignant or accurate quote to sum up where I’m at right at this very moment.

I’m always trying to find ways to de-stress, live in the moment, and have more fun. For someone who is as structured and rigid in her routine as I am, these are actual things I have to work on. They don’t come naturally to me. If I don’t work on them… I just become way too serious.
Sometimes its as easy as being more of a yes person and saying yes to last minute plans with friends or breaking my usual schedule and doing something kind for myself (letting getting my nails done or doing some window shopping). But sometimes it takes more scheduled action.
One of the things you guys already know I’ve been loving is the headspace app. I just finished the 30-day foundation courses and am now moving on to more specific meditations guided toward things like happiness and more harmonious relationships. I’m so excited! And proud of myself for actually committing to (almost) daily meditation.But one of the other, more fun, things I’ve been doing is all out dancing to one song every single day. But there is one section of WFM that I’m not as acquainted with… and that’s the Whole Body aisle. You know, the big section of probiotics, supplements, protein powders, body care products, and all that jazz. It’s not that I don’t want to learn about all of this stuff, it’s more so that it’s kinda intimidating. Straight up food I can handle- the things beyond food? That’s where I start to get a little overwhelmed. There’s just so much to learn and know! Luckily for people like me, there are team members who work specifically in Whole Body who I can talk to whenever I’m looking for something. They’ve always helped me in the past to find things like essential oils, chap stick, magnesium powder, and hair products made of all natural ingredients.
When the Whole Foods Market on P Street reached out to me about trying some of their Whole Body products that already curated and made for summer fun- I couldn’t say no! Will and I are becoming pros at packing as much good stuff into a vacation as possible without over planning and making things too stressful. That was pretty much how our short trip to Charleston was this past weekend. We drove down on Thursday to watch one of Will’s best friend’s from high school get married on Saturday- and were sure to soak in as much Charleston as possible while we were there. Continue reading
